Amazon in August: How to turn Prime Day learnings into a winning Q4 strategy

If Prime Day is the sprint, August is the training block that determines whether you win the marathon. At Vector Retail Media, August is our most strategically important planning window - the moment when Prime Day 2025 data meets the preparation needed to win Black Friday, Christmas, and the broader Q4 period.
Here are the four areas we are focused on right now, and why each of them matters for any brand serious about Amazon performance in the second half of 2025
1. Data-Driven Q4 preparation
The Skai Prime Day 2025 report confirmed this was a record-breaking event for media efficiency. Amazon shoppers were highly engaged, and for those with the right full-funnel strategies in place, the returns were significant.
But the real value of Prime Day data extends well beyond the event itself. We are now analysing that data in detail to inform our Q4 campaign strategies: which keywords drove the strongest performance, which audience segments over-indexed, and how we can deploy that intelligence to build more profitable campaigns for our partners in the months ahead.
Prime Day is, in effect, a live test of your Q4 assumptions. The brands and agencies that treat it as a data-gathering exercise - as much as a revenue event - will be significantly better positioned come October.
2. An AI-powered marketplace: preparing for what comes next
Amazon's investment in artificial intelligence is accelerating, and the implications for advertisers are significant. CEO Andy Jassy has confirmed that advertising will be integrated into Alexa+ conversations, a development that builds on the introduction of ads to Prime Video and signals a fundamental shift in how product discovery happens on the platform.
This changes the underlying question for Amazon advertisers. For much of the platform's history, advertising optimisation has been about what consumers type. With Alexa+ and conversational AI, it is increasingly about what they ask.
We are working with our media clients now to prepare for this shift: optimising product listings for conversational voice search and planning how to leverage the new ad formats that will emerge from this integration. Brands that begin this preparation in August will have a meaningful head start as these formats scale.
3. Navigating Vendor Central's new rules
For brands operating through Vendor Central, August brings a specific and time-sensitive challenge. Amazon has announced that Q4 purchase orders will be issued earlier than in previous years, and the platform is tightening compliance with the introduction of new "In Full Delivery" chargebacks.
The message is clear: if your supply chain is not ready, it will cost you - both in financial penalties and in the stock availability needed to capitalise on peak Q4 demand.
Our operations team is actively supporting Vendor Central clients through this process: auditing supply chain capacity, cross-referencing volume forecasts against Q4 projections, and ensuring data accuracy across all relevant inputs. Getting this right in August is far preferable to firefighting in November.
4. Luxury and brand protection
One of the defining trends of 2025 has been the accelerating presence of luxury brands on the Amazon platform. As Amazon continues its move upmarket, the imperative to protect your brand's presence and positioning becomes proportionally more important.
August is a logical moment to address this. We are working with partners to ensure Brand Registry status is fully secured, to establish robust monitoring for counterfeit listings, and to develop brand-building strategies that extend well beyond pay-per-click advertising. In a maturing marketplace, the brands that invest in long-term brand equity will be the ones with pricing power and customer loyalty when it matters most.
The August mindset
The common thread across all four of these priorities is preparation. The Q4 window on Amazon is intense and unforgiving, there is very little time to course-correct once October arrives. August is the window to make the decisions that will shape performance for the remainder of the year.
The brands that use this time well - analysing Prime Day data, adapting to new platform developments, tightening operational compliance, and investing in brand protection - will be the ones entering Q4 with genuine competitive advantage.
